Our Diamonds

Diamonds come in a variety of different shapes and are a great way to express your individual style.

At Jewellers Bench we specialise in sourcing top quality diamonds and only source our stones from trusted suppliers. We will present you with a selection of diamonds with a range of carat sizes, colour, and clarity. We can then talk through your options and help you select the best stone available, and within your budget.
Diamonds are hardest natural substance found on earth and is the only gemstone made from just one element – carbon. Most diamonds found in nature, were formed 1 to 3 billion years ago due to extreme heat and pressure, hundreds of miles below the surface of the earth.
At Jewellers Bench we pride ourselves in taking the utmost care in ensuring all diamonds that we select are of exceptional quality. In discerning an excellent stone, consider the 4 x C’s:

Diamond Cut

The cut grade of a diamond refers to how well-proportioned the dimensions of the diamond are, and how these surfaces, or facets, are positioned to create sparkle and brilliance. The proportions, symmetry, and finish of the diamond is of utmost importance. The better the cut of a diamond, the more it will sparkle. At Jewellers Bench we believe that cut is the most important factor to consider when purchasing a diamond.

Diamond Colour

At Jewellers Bench we specialise in sourcing top quality diamonds and only source our stones from trusted suppliers. We will present you with a selection of diamonds with a range of carat sizes, colour, and clarity. The colour grade of a diamond refers to the presence, or lack of, colour within the stone.  Diamonds are graded between ‘D’ to ‘Z’.  The best diamond colour is ‘D’, which is a colourless diamond whereas ‘Z’ is a light-yellow diamond. At Jewellers Bench we offer predominately D-H colour for the most colourless look in your jewellery.

Diamond Clarity

As diamonds are natural stones, almost all diamonds have inclusions, small imperfections within or on the surface of the diamond. These imperfections are formed while in the ground and are unique to each stone, similar to a fingerprint.

The highest clarity rating for a diamond is an ‘F’, meaning that it is flawless and these are extremely rare to ‘included’ meanings that inclusions are visible to the naked eye.

Diamonds Carat

The carat is a unit of measurement used relative to weight of the diamond. A one carat diamond is equal to 0.200 grams of diamond, so that a 5-carat stone weight 1 gram. However, not just the weight but the proportions of a diamond will impact the brilliance of the stone.

A well-proportioned, and well-cut stone will fire brilliance.   If a diamond is cut with deep proportions, it may look dull and appear smaller than other diamonds but have the same carat weight of ideal proportions.  Diamonds that have shallower proportions than the ideal, will appear larger in diameter but lack ‘presence’ as the cut allow them to ‘leak’ light.  The below diagram gives a guideline to the approximate size and weight of a diamond.
